Winners of Illustrated Letter Competition Announced
Monday 15 July 2013
The winners of the NZ Post Children's Book Award Illustrated Letter competition have been announced.
More than 140 children across the Nelson Tasman region entered their art works into the competition.
The children had to illustrate one letter of the alphabet, using as many words and pictures as they could create beginning with that letter.
"The quality of entries was very high", says Children's Librarian Lucy Brunwin. "And some classes from smaller schools really supported the competition well."
The winners are:
- 6 years and under - 1st place: Chia Nagahama (Richmond); Highly Commended: Sophie Walters (Nelson) and Amen Lee (Nelson)
- 7-9 years - 1st place: Jade Shutte (Richmond); Highly Commended: Kortnee Dobbie (Motueka) and Aliyah Sowman (Richmond)
- 10-12 years - 1st place: Tessa Saunders (Richmond); Highly Commended: Danielle Smith (Richmond) and Hiro Nagahama (Richmond)
The winning entries are on display at Nelson's NZ Post Shop during July.
