Summer Reading Fun!

Monday 9 December 2019

Grab your favourite books and put your belt on - we're going on a reading road trip this summer!

We are hitting the road this summer with a wonderful array of activities and a super fun reading programme for young readers. Children who take part in the Summer Road Trip Reading Adventure will keep a log of their reading and help our library campervan travel around a map of South Island-Te Wai Pounamu. This year readers will be rewarded with an activity booklet and will select a book to keep upon completion of the reading programme. The Summer Road Trip Reading adventure is totally free to join and no registration is required. What's more, at the end of the summer break there will be a finale party for children who have completed the programme.

We're encouraging teen readers aged 12-18 to kick back and read for pleasure now that the school year is done. Relaxing Reads is simple and fun. Readers simply write a mini-review of the book they've just read to enter a weekly draw for a cafe voucher worth $10. The entry box will be in the Young Adult area of the library and teen readers can enter as often as they like.

The Summer Road Trip Reading Adventure and Relaxing Reads are both district-wide promotions (meaning they're taking place at Takaka, Murchison, Motueka and Richmond libraries) and run from 16 December 2019 to 31 January 2020.
