RFID has arrived
Friday 28 October 2016
Checking out your library books is now easier and faster at Richmond, Motueka and Takaka Libraries after installation of a new RFID system last week.
RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) allows a library item to be tracked using radio waves rather than reading a barcode, so multiple items can be issued or returned simultaneously.
The new RFID self-check machines look very futuristic and have useful options such as Te Reo Māori and a large print feature.
As well as using the self-check machines to check out your library books, you can also use them to view or renew items on your library account.
Library staff are still close at hand to issue your books for you if you prefer.
Although the libraries look a bit different, we are still providing the same friendly services and one-on-one help we have always provided. If you need assistance finding your way around the library, or you have any questions just ask one of our friendly staff.
