Poetry Box : a New Zealand Poetry Blog for Children

Tuesday 2 April 2013

There's a new blog dedicated to children's poetry. Set up by New Zealand children's author and poet Paula Green, the aim of the blog is to encourage children to read and create poetry.

"For the next two years I will dedicate myself to poetry for children," says Paula in her first blog post. "I will be busy editing an anthology of poems for children, writing poems, visiting schools, organising events, sharing information."

The blog is a perfect space for children, teachers, parents, writers and readers who are interested in children's poetry. There are great tips on writing poetry including advice from famous authors of children's poetry like James Norcliffe, Joy Cowley and Margaret Mahy. And there are regular competitions to encourage budding poets.
