Parade to Celebrate Book Week

Thursday 23 May 2013

Richmond Primary School is celebrating Book Week and they're letting the whole town know about it.

Hundreds of book characters will parade through the streets - and through Richmond Library - next Friday 31 May.

This annual parade is the final act of the school's Book Week, and is an eagerly anticipated date on the students' calendar.

School Librarian Michelle Simpson says deciding which character to be is a fun challenge for the pupils.

"We do activities around the shortlisted books for the New Zealand Post Book Awards which gives them even more choices alongside their favourites."

According to Michelle the "Guess Who Ms. S. Is" competition is one of the most popular activities with plenty of characters in-store for this year including Superwoman and Sherlock Holmes.

If you'd like to see an amazing array of book characters parade through the Richmond Library, be there from 10.00 am onwards, Friday 31 May.
