James Norcliffe Visits Motueka Library

Thursday 13 August 2015

Early in August, 28 children from seven local schools were fortunate to meet and listen to New Zealand author James Norcliffe at Motueka Library.

James shared his passion for fantasy writing and his love of words. “Kids love words,” James says. "Don't be shy to use big words."

James also talked about his life as a writer, saying, "I write the sort of books I would like to have read as a child."

James is visiting the Tasman region as part of the New Zealand Children Book Awards 2015 tour. His latest book The Pirates and the Night Maker is a finalist in the junior fiction section of the Awards. The Pirates and the Night Maker is a strange and mischievous story about pirates and an invisible flying boy with beautiful emerald-green wings.

James Norcliffe lives in Church Bay with his wife and an ungrateful cat named Pinky Bones.
