Takaka Library Celebrates 10th Anniversary

Monday 9 April 2018

It's hard to believe but the 'new' library in Takaka is ten years old in April.

There are going to be lots of events in April and May to celebrate this milestone.

A series of talks called "Blast from the Past" will take place Friday lunchtimes, starting on Friday 13 April. These light-hearted talks will look at Takaka 20 to 30 years ago through the eyes of well-known locals in the Golden Bay community.

We are delighted to host celebrated New Zealand author Joy Cowley on Thursday 3 May. Joy will talk to class groups in the morning and to adults in the evening on the subject of "The healing power of language".

Well-known artist, Robin Slow has painted a triptych to celebrate the library's anniversary and with great generosity gifted this wonderful piece to the library. There will be a viewing of the paintings on Friday 4 May. The new plaques commissioned by Heritage Golden Bay on the history of the libraries in Golden Bay will also be in place for viewing that day.
