Lost Childhoods Virtual Reality Event
Wednesday 7 October 2015
For a few hours this month you can experience life in a refugee camp. Richmond Library and UNICEF are working together to bring this virtual reality experience to you.
Using special Virtual Reality headsets, you will be transported to Zaatari refugee camp, home to more than 80,000 refugees from the Syrian conflict.
The short 8 minute film shows you a day in the life of a 12 year old Syrian girl living at Zaatari and helps participants relate to the lives of people caught up in the ongoing crisis.
UNICEF New Zealand Executive Director Vivien Maidaborn says, "Every one of us has seen the images - children marked by this conflict, whose childhoods have been stolen. There is so much we can do, as human beings, as groups of people, and as a country, to make a tangible difference for these children.”
The UNICEF Lost Childhoods Virtual Reality event is being held at Richmond Library, 10.00am to 12:30pm on Saturday 17 October. Bookings are not required.
