Join the Big Library e-Book Read
Wednesday 22 May 2013
Library members in Tasman, Nelson and other New Zealand centres are joining millions of others from around the globe in the first ever e-book Big Library Read.
Until June, library members can log in to OverDrive, Tasman's e-book provider, and download The Four Corners of the Sky by Michael Malone.
"This is an excellent opportunity for all those library customers who haven't yet dipped their toes in the world of e-books" says Collections Librarian Ruth Lawley.
"Some customers have found that their first attempts to borrow e-books have been a little frustrating as everything seems to be on loan. With this pilot programme you're guaranteed a read."
To use OverDrive you need a library card and PIN.
About the Big Library Read
Big Library Read is a pilot programme in which libraries worldwide offer a single e-book to their patrons at the same time.
In addition to creating a global library book club, Big Library Read is designed to demonstrate the positive exposure and sales influence that library e-books provide to authors and publishers.
The usual lending arrangement for e-books is one book, one user. The Big Library Read spotlights one title for a set time period for library customers around the world to read simultaneously. The programme is sponsored by OverDrive, with initial support and participation from Sourcebooks, Inc., a leading independent United States publisher.
