J K Rowling's Secret Bestseller

Friday 19 July 2013

J K Rowling, well-known for her Harry Potter books, has secretly authored The Cuckoo's Calling, an adult crime novel.

Written under the pen name of Robert Galbraith, the debut mystery novel has been hailed as brilliant.

However last week it was revealed that Robert Galbraith is in fact the nom de plume of popular author J K Rowling.

Rowling is said to have been disappointed about the timing of the revelation. She told the Sunday Times that it was “wonderful to publish without hype or expectation”.

Since the unmasking sales of the book have soared.

Rowling is one of many popular authors to have used a pseudonym. Other well known pen names include J D Robb, George Orwell, Zane Grey, Lewis Carroll, and Mark Twain.

Rowling's first adult novel A Casual Vacancy was published last year.
