Hearts for Christchurch Workshops

Thursday 20 March 2014

Motueka Library hosted two morning workshops in February to create and decorate papier mache hearts.  These hearts were gifted to the people of Christchurch to commemorate the anniversary of the February 22nd Earthquake.  Ten people successfully completed hearts to send to Christchurch.

"The workshops had a lovely buzz to them" says Helen McCubbin, Motueka Branch Librarian. "Everyone really enjoyed making new connections and sharing their stories of Christchurch and the earthquakes. The hearts were a great way to express the love and support from the people of Motueka and the Tasman region to those affected by the Christchurch earthquakes."

After being displayed for a short time in Motueka Library, the hearts were sent down to Christchurch Central Library - Peterborough.

A big thank you to Julie Clausen who ran the workshops and to Christchurch City Libraries for supporting the idea.
