Hearts and Romance at Motueka Library

Friday 24 January 2014

Motueka Library is kicking off the year to a busy start with two exciting events in February.

Up first is Create a Heart for Christchurch.

This inspiring initiative is the brainchild of sculptor and former Christchurch resident, Julie Clausen and library staff member Bronnie Webb.

"We wanted to find a way to send messages of love and support to Christchurch on the third anniversary of the February 22nd earthquake," says Bronnie.

"Participants in the event will create papier mache hearts to send a message of love and support to Christchurch. The works created will be displayed in Christchurch libraries".

The hearts will be created over two workshops held on Wednesday 5 and 12 February. Just phone Motueka Library to book your place.

The second event is Romance Rocks, a fun and entertaining way to celebrate Valentine's Day on Friday 14 February,

Motueka Library will host two successful romance authors, Sally Ash and LaVerne Clark.  They will share their secrets on successful romance writing, talk about how they came to writing and read extracts from their work.

Both Sally and LaVerne are members of the Nelson Branch of Romance Writers of New Zealand, and are passionate about writing and sharing their knowledge.

"Should be a fun and interesting evening," says Assistant Librarian Sandee Boyd, "They sound like real characters".
