Enchanted Tree Cake Winning Entry
Monday 23 September 2013
The Crafty Winter Competition at Richmond Library was a great success with Lotte van Ginkel taking the prize with her Enchanted Tree cake. Lotte took inspiration from the book, Debbie Brown's Enchanted Cakes for Children.
No ordinary cake, the winning entry is a work of art.
"You keep finding new treasures in it," says Promotions Assistant, Tania Norfolk. "From rabbits to toadstalls, bees to squirrels, each one is exquisitely crafted."
Entries for the competition were received throughout July and August. Lotte is clearly not the only creative person in her family. Her mother, Helen, entered a 'rosie posy' tea cosy, from the book Wild Tea Cosies by Loani Prior. And brother Ben took inspiration from Fun and Easy Scroll Saw Projects with his silhouetted horses.
"We were thrilled with the diversity and quality of the entries," says Tania. "There are certainly some talented people out there."
All entries are now on display in the library and can be viewed throughout September.
