Dare to Read Programme Ends Today
Friday 29 January 2016
Check-ins for the children’s summer reading programme ‘Dare to Read’ end today.
This year’s programme required participants to complete a choice of three fun tasks as well as reading regularly.
The list of tasks included creative activities such as writing book reviews, making comic strips and other artwork, or creating a meal or a craft following instructions from a book.
Library staff have been impressed by the wonderful and imaginative creations being produced. The tasks have been very popular, with some children on the programme aiming to complete all 18 tasks on the list!
Two of the most popular tasks have been ‘a photograph of you reading in an unusual place’ and ‘a photograph of you reading a story to your pet, another child, a toy or a grandparent’.
These photographs along with completed book reviews and artworks are on display in the Tasman libraries for a limited time.
