Dare to Read Begins
Friday 16 December 2016
Registrations for this year’s summer reading programme Dare to Read opened this week.
The programme is a free and fun way to encourage 5 to 12 year olds to continue reading through the school holiday break. As well as reading, participants get to complete fun activities and receive a small reward at each check in.
There is no limit on participant numbers this year, so more children are able to take part in the programme. There is also a longer period to register and complete the programme, which makes it easier for busy families to fit around trips away and other holiday activities.
Children and Young Adults Librarian Lucy Brunwin says 'Just read, share and have fun. As Dr Seuss says: "The more you read, the more you know, the more you know, the stronger you grow...".
We've been stocking our libraries with lots of great new books, so come empty our shelves and fill your summer holidays with zing!
