Barack Obama: Bookworm

Monday 6 February 2017

Barack Obama is a major bookworm.

In his book "Dreams from My Father," he reflected on his lifelong love of literature saying "When I wasn't working, the weekends would usually find me alone in an empty apartment, making do with the company of books."

Throughout his time in the White House, Barack Obama has recommended hundreds of books, both those he has read, those he has suggested to his daughters and favourites from different stages of his life.

Over the last two summers he has listed his best summer reads, causing bookstores to sell out of the books he has highlighted.

On leaving the White House, The Independent newspaper has compiled a list of 79 of his recommendations during his presidency. It is a wide ranging and eclectic list.

Now he has more time on his hands, no doubt his list of favourites will continue to expand.
