Nelson's Unsung Early Heroines
Wednesday 1 March 2017
Richmond Library is pleased to be welcoming back to the library Jessie Bray Sharpin from Nelson Provincial Museum.
Last year Jessie delivered a fascinating talk about the untold stories of Nelson’s early women. In March, she will be back with a follow up talk about more of Nelson Tasman’s unsung early heroines.
The talk will include the stories of Mary Ann Muller, New Zealand’s pioneer suffragist; Anna Heine, part of the German settler community; and Mary Ann Wallis, who set up an orphanage with her second husband after becoming a wife, mother and widow in the space of a year.
Jessie Bray Sharpin’s talk will be held in the Constance Barnicoat Room at Richmond Library at 5.30pm on Thursday 9 March. The talk is free and bookings are not required.
