Family History Month : 1914-2014 Lest We Forget

Tuesday 22 July 2014

August is Family History Month and also the 100th anniversary of the start of World War I. Throughout August Richmond Library will be offering a variety of events, competitions and resources to commemorate this anniversary.

Events include World War I – The Nelson Experience. Nelson Provincial Museum’s WW100 Project Content Curator, Karen Stade, will deliver a presentation on the at-home experiences of the Nelson province during World War I. This will include images from the Museum’s extensive collections.

The library will also be offering classes and online resources for those interested in tracing their ancestors through online military records.

Visitors to Richmond Library will also be able to see a display of postcards from World War I, which are kindly on loan to the library from the collection of John Dearing.
